Window Of An Abandoned Home, Varner, Lincoln County
This home sat within the shadow of the Varner Prison. There is a small cemetery nearby, with graves baring the Varner name. Perhaps this was the home for the Maple Grove Plantation, which the state of Arkansas purchased in 1902 so that it could have land for the Cummins prison. br/ br/The Arkansas Department of Corrections is probably in charge of the property. Although the house was abandoned and crumbling, the grass around the cemetery and home had been freshly mowed and the graves were in good condition. Since this picture was taken, the home had been torn down.br/br/ br/ Taken: 2017
